The Little Lost Puppy

He was barely even six weeks old

And they were giving him away

I begged my mom and dad to say

That I could take him home

My mom and dad had told me

That if I brought him home

That i would have to be the one

          To care for him alone

So I agreed that I would be

The one who cared for him

He would have a friend in me

          Someone to comfort from within

One day as the puppy grew

He was let outside to play

And when I went to let him in

I saw that he had run away

The first thing that I thought of

Was that the little pup was bad

But then I realised one thing

That he was likely very sad

We looked so hard and carefully

          From morning until night

And all that I could think of

          Was that little puppy's fright

          After seven hours of searching

We decided to head for home

          And prayed the little pup

Had found his way back on his own

When we arrived at home again

It was deep into the night

And we were greeted from the steps

By a sweet and precious sight

The little pup was sitting there

On the top step to our home

          And from that very moment

          He was never left alone
