Peacefulness

          The evening breeze is playing

In the pine trees above my head,

And I hear the chirp of tiny birds

As they get settled into bed.

There's a sudden splash in the little creek

A beaver is cutting a tree,

He will trim and tuck the tree in tight

Then hide under it where noone can see.

Out on the lake is a silvery path

Leading up to the moom so high,

And I see a million tiny stars

          Ablaze in the darkened sky.

At the end of the dock where

          I scattered some crumbs

Where the little waves slap and rip,

The water is broken by a smooth dark form

A fish that is making a flip.

There's a world of peace in this quiet spot

          Here on the rocky beach,

Away from the rush of humanity

          Where the noises never reach.

          A sence of total peacefulness

That can almost be felt with your palm,

I sit here and wonder how this could be

To have something so still and calm.

And at the end of a tiring day

My soul is filled with love,

For a God who gave us this wonderful world

And watches over it from above.
